24.09 — SO SOFT AND THE SUN
Lichthof Theater

Jascha Viehstädt presents a new iteration of his long-term artistic research series so soft and the sun at Lichthof Theater.

The current edition turns its attention to language generated by artificial intelligence. Within an installation by scenographer Takaya Kobayashi, choreographic images meet charred objects in the ceaseless rhythm of day and night. Dr. Deniz Sarikaya shares insights from AI research and epistemology, while texts by Dr. Mira Sarikaya moves between literary fiction and linguistics, exploring the entangled futures of language and technology. Finally, guest dancer Venetsiana Kalampaliki tries to navigate an overwhelming torrent of movement.

Between dance, installation, and research, “so soft and the sun” asks how technology is reshaping our perception of the natural and artificial worlds around us.

Open Call — OPEN WA~TER

Since September 2026, SHD/ hosts a Micro Lab every two months for artists working in contemporary dance, choreography, performance and related practices.

For each edition, one or two artists or groups will be invited to share work in progress. Afterwards, a guest invited by SHD/— such as an artist or dramaturg —will facilitate a discussion, ask questions and moderate the exchange.

The Micro Labs take place on the last Saturday of every other month, starting on 26 September 2026. Each contribution includes a budget of €400, studio time for preparation and technical support where needed.

We are currently inviting proposals for the following showings:

March 27 + May 29 + July 31, 2027
Application deadline: February 15, 2027
